Dr. Todd Deaton Editor
|
DR. TODD DEATON, who has more than 20 years of denominational service, began duties as editor of the Western Recorder in January 2009. Deaton previously was managing editor of the Baptist Courier in South Carolina for 13 years. He also has been associate editor of the Biblical Recorder in North Carolina.
Deaton holds an undergraduate degree in English from Furman University in Greenville S.C.; a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville; and a doctorate in education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C. A former intern/staff writer at the Western Recorder during his seminary years, Deaton also has been an intern with the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board (now North American Mission Board) and at the Baptist Courier.
He and his wife Michelle have two children, Laura, 16, and Caleb, 12.

Drew Nichter News Director
|
DREW NICHTER has served as Western Recorder news director since May of 2007. He had served since 2004 as an associate director and news producer of WAVE 3 TV in Louisville. Nichter, 30, previously was an operations specialist for University Physicians’ Associates in Louisville.
A graduate of Indiana University Southeast with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism, Nichter was assistant editor of the university’s campus newspaper. He was named the school’s “Outstanding Journalism Student” and earned the top sports writing award in the 2005 Indiana Collegiate Press Association competition. He also attended the University of the Cumberlands.
Nichter and his wife, Sarah, are members of Phos Hilaron Church in the Louisville area. They are the parents of two daughters, Caroline and Sadie.

Tom Townsend Marketing and Business Manager

TOM TOWNSEND, the Western Recorder's marketing and business manager since January 2007, is a graduate of the University of West Florida in Pensacola with a bachelor's in Business Administration. He also has a Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.
Tom has been pastor of churches in Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. He has also served the Florida Baptist Children's Homes, the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children and, most recently, Life International. He has been a member of numerous boards and committees and is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).
He and his wife are members of Crestwood Baptist Church.

Dannah Prather Partnership Editions Editor
|
DANNAH PRATHER, a native of Kentucky, is a graduate of Murray State University with a degree in journalism. She began serving as Western Recorder Partnership Editions Editor in May 2004, coordinating the publication of Baptist papers in Hawaii-Pacific, Iowa, Minnesota-Wisconsin, Pennsylvania/South Jersey, Colorado and Wyoming.
Prior to serving in Baptist communication ministries, she was a reporter for newspapers in Hodgenville, Campbellsville and Elizabethtown. First writing for the Georgia Baptist Convention's annual state missions emphasis, Dannah worked several years as associate director of communications for Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. From there she served briefly as communications and grants coordinator for the Illinois Baptist Children's Home and Family Services before accepting the position with the Western Recorder.
Dannah has received writing awards from the Kentucky Press Association and Baptist Communicators Association. Baptized at First Baptist Church of Middlesboro in 1974, she is now a member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville. Contact Dannah by e-mail at Dannah.Prather@KyBaptist.org.

Jeff Wise Composition and Computer Specialist

JEFF WISE has worked for Western Recorder since 1989 as a page-layout specialist using desktop publishing programs such as Xerox Ventura Publisher, Adobe PageMaker and Adobe InDesign. In addition to page layout, he also provides in-house computer support and maintains the Recorder's Web site.
Jeff is a 1974 graduate of Auburn (Ala.) University with a bachelor's degree in business, and a 1983 graduate of Southern Seminary with a Master of Divinity. Prior to his employment with Western Recorder, he served churches in Alabama, North Carolina and Kentucky as a minister of Christian education and youth.
Jeff's primary hobbies include reading (science) and riding motorcycles. He is married to Barbara Wise and they have three adult daughters: Christi Arnette, Julie Guffey and Lori Wise. They also have two grandchildren: Lily and Wyatt Arnette.

Danielle Sage Circulation Coordinator

DANIELLE SAGE has served Western Recorder as circulation coordinator since May 2006 and additionally assumed the responsibilities of accounting coordinator in January 2007. She also assists in the processing of church newsletters and serves as administrative assistant.
Before coming to the Recorder, Danielle was a student at Campbellsville University where she graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration and educational ministries. While there, she worked in various positions both at the school and with Campbellsville Baptist Church. In October 2007, she and her husband, Dewy, welcomed a daughter, Molly; and in 2008, a son, Elias Tate. The family attends Living Grace Church in Campbellsville.

Donna Fonk Accounting Coordinator

DONNA FONK, who joined the Recorder staff in 2009, has 20 years experience as an accountant. She is a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Oldham County where she sings in the choir and on the praise team. She has two grown children, Brad and Rachel. Donna also uses her accounting skills with her husband, Ron, in their contracting business. She enjoys traveling and likes to combine that with overseas mission trips. She also enjoys reading and square dancing.
